About the Brand

R.WHITE’S HAS A RICH AND INTERESTING HISTORY STRETCHING BACK OVER 170 YEARS

1845

Founded by Robert White. Just a one man, one horse and cart operation flogging ginger beer.

1845-1855

R.White’s makes the fateful choice to enter the lemonade trade. It’d prove to be a wise choice.

1845-1888

R.White’s sets up on Albany Rd, Charles St and Walworth producing 600,000 bottles a day, becoming one of the first soft drink mass producers.

1894

R.White’s becomes the leading purveyor of lemonade in London, with capital of £500,000.

1896

Fame reaches far and wide, R.White’s is appointed as a supplier for Napoleon and the Prince of Schleswig-Holstein

1901

Robert White tragically passes away. Fortunately, John George and Robert James white are waiting in the wings.

1940-1945

The war takes its toll on the company, many factories are lost in the blitz. In its time of need, R.White’s turns to its profitable potato chip wing of the company, and manages to stay afloat.

1961

R.White’s bounces back with a vengeance. Barking is reopened with new technology, now producing 70% of all bottle products.

1969-1980

R.White’s merges with Whitbread and Bass-Canada Dry, eventually forming Canada Dry Rawlings Limited.

1986

Before too long those wily foxes at Britvic are in on the action too, merging with Canada Dry Rawlings Limited.

Now

R.White’s to this day stands as a lemonade market giant
